Today in this blog post I am going to share with you five simple ways to get leads off Twitter fast. If you are trying to grow your business with Twitter, use these techniques to get more e-mail leads. That way you can later turn those leads into clients.
Do not try to sell directly from Twitter. This is a rookie mistake I see people make all the time. What you do not want to do is try to send a bunch of clicks off Twitter directly to your sales page. You are just going to find that traffic doesn’t convert and bounces off your site quickly. What you do want to do is build an e-mail list. E-mail your prospects valuable e-mails over time and warm them up so when they are ready to buy from you, they know like and trust you. You will just close more sales. It is how you do it. It is how everybody that knows how to do it on Twitter does it. So make sure that you are using Twitter that way to grow your business.
So here are my 5 tips for getting leads of Twitter fast:
#1 Find People Asking for Help
The number one thing you are going want to do on Twitter when you are trying to get more clients and grow you business is to search for people asking for help. But how do you do that? Well the first thing you want to do is head on over to:
Here is what it looks like:
That is Twitter’s advance search feature and what are you going to put in their advance search?
Well, let us say that you are a web designer and you want to find people that are looking for web design help. Well some words I would put in there are things like:
looking for, recommendation, or web design
So when people tweet out:
"hey I am looking for a good web designer, do you know anybody?"
That Tweet will show up in your search. Maybe they will say:
"do you have a good recommendation for a web designer?"
That tweet would also show up in your search.
But it is actually not that easy. What you have to do is remember to exclude key words to filter down the Twitter stream so that you cut down on all the spam. Because what you are going to find is for every word that you put in the search tool, there is someone sending out a tweet for their offer. So you will see Tweets like:
"hey, are you looking for a web designer" or "check out my web designs".
By getting a combination of include and exclude key words, you can make a pretty nice Twitter stream where you can find people that are just looking for help.
So when they are looking for help you are going to reply and say:
"hey, I can help you out and this is how".
#2 Find Dissatisfied Customers of Your Competitors
So number two is really close to number one. You are going to search for tweets about competitors. Well what kinds of tweets are you looking for from your competitors? Well, let’s say someone tweeted that they were very unhappy with the service being provided by your competitor. So maybe they are using a web designer who is not responsive. They might say:
"Hey, I signed up with you for a web design and you have not gotten back with me for two weeks. What is going on?"
Well, you can find those tweets and simply respond back that you are sorry to hear about their experience and offer them a free consultation. So for our web design example, you can say:
"hey, sorry to hear about that if that continues let me know, I can hook you up. I got an open schedule here is some of my design work."
Just that sort of thing can go a long way on Twitter because people know you are listening to them. So the first two, are around binding people that need help on Twitter and just being there and replying to them.
#3 Hashtags Matter
Number three is to use relevant hash tags. Well hash tags are huge because they are going to make your tweets go further and more people are going to see them. And remember tweets with one to two hash tags are mostly likely to be re-tweeted so make sure in your tweets; you put one or two hash tags.
If you do not how to pick a good hash tag I recommend going and checking out the guys at http://www.ritetag.com.
Rite tag will do a couple of things. It will scan your Twitter account and look at the hash tags you used in the past. Then it finds the ones that have worked out the best for you and it will also suggest really good hash tags to use in your tweets.
I use them all the time and it really does make a difference. If you put the wrong hash tag in there it can go nowhere but if you just tweak it a little bit and find a hashtag that has lots of traction that can really make a big difference. So make sure to check those guys out and use relevant hash tags in all your tweets.
#4 use Twitter lead gen cards
Number four is big one. I want you to use Twitter leadgen cards. A lot of people do not even know what these are. This is what they look like:
I will show you why they are so cool in a second. You need to set up to Twitter ads to use LeadGen cards. They are great and totally worth it. You do not even need a run ads with the leadgen cards themselves but if you go into Twitter advertising, it lets you CREATE the leadgen cards. Then you can tweet them out without even having even to pay for them. But you do need to sign up for Twitter ads to use them.
Leadgen cards let people get on your e-mail list with one click. It is really try one the coolest things I have ever seen Twitter do. People do not have to type in their e-mail. This is huge because everybody on Twitter is pretty much on a mobile phone.
If you think about being on Twitter on your mobile phone and you click on something that looks cool. Then it takes you to a landing page. Then you have to type in your e-mail. That is kind of hard to do on a mobile phone and frankly most people just are not going to do it. But what Twitter lets you do is to stay within Twitter and with one click (you do not even leave Twitter) that e-mail address gets sent the person who is running the leadgen card.
Another huge thing is you get their real e-mail. You get the e-mail that they use to set up their Twitter account with which is probably a much higher quality e-mail than you would get if they were filling in a optin form. A lot of times when people fill out an optin form they put in a second hand e-mail because they think you are probably going to spam them. They do not want anyone spamming their real e-mail. But with Twitter leadgen cards you get the real main primary e-mail. So that is another huge reason to use it.
Here is an example of what a Twitter LeadGen card looks like:
So you see this in your tweet stream and it looks interesting. Yeah you want to join their club so you click the button. Then Twitter just says “are you sure you want share your e-mail with Barista bar?”. You say okay. You never even leave Twitter. The barista bar gets a confirmation with your e-mail. Then there are ways to integrate it all to make it sign up with your e-mail lists service. It is actually not that hard. But this is probably one of the best ways you can use Twitter to gather e-mail leads.
#5 Engage with Prospects
Number five is to follow up with your prospects and engage with them. This is really huge and what do I mean? Well I always have a “prospects” private list on all my Twitter accounts. Now when I find prospects I put them on a private list:
What do I do with that private list? Well, I always look at it first. I look at it first before I look at my main Twitter feed. If a prospect said anything interesting I re-tweet it for them. If they have a question or they have said something I reply to them. I ask them questions. I engage heavily with my prospects so that they know I am actually someone behind the brand who is manning it. They know there is actually a real person back there and my twitter account is just not a Twitter robot just blasting out tweets, so that goes really far.
So there you go. 5 great tips for getting more leads off Twitter. Make sure you use these to quickly grow your e-mail list with Twitter.
