If you want to know my personal email marketing best practices then look no further than my latest video.  But maybe you are somewhere where you just can not watch the video.  I get it.  For that reasons I always summarize each video for you.  This one will be no exception.  You need to have solid email marketing best practices under your belt if you are going to be successful and make money from it.  So here we go.

Email Marketing Best Practices My Personal Tips

email marketing best practices subject lineHave One Point – One of my favorite email marketing best practices is to have a single point and purpose to your email.  Are you trying to sell something?  Build good will?  Have them book an appointment?  Where people go wrong is having their emails try to do to many things.  Newsletters are a great example of what NOT to do.

Write to a Friend – I always write my emails like I was writing my best friend.  You should too.  First of all it makes them easier to write.  You will find your emails are usually pretty short and to the point.  Do not mess around with lots of graphics.  They will lower your open rate because less people will see them (spam filters).  Just use a simple text font.  Keep it personal.

Know the 3 Roles and Jobs of your email – Another one of the great email marketing best practices is to just know the purpose of the different parts of your email message.  Each one has a job.  Make sure it does the right job and not someone else’s.  Here are the job roles:

Subject Line – Your subject line has one job.  To get the email open.  No opens and nothing else happens.  You need people to open your emails.  Curiosity works great but often you will get lower click through rates and sales.  Mix it up and you will quickly get a feel for what works best with your audience.

Message Body – When it comes to email marketing best practices you need to know the job of the message body.  The body’s only job is to drive a click to your site or landing page.  That’s it.  Try putting your link in the email 3 times.  One for curiosity, another for a direct benefit.  A third for scarcity.  I find these work best.

Landing Page Offer Page – The landing page or offer page has a job too.  In the world of email marketing best practices its role is to the make the sale.  Capture the lead.  You name it.  Again only 1 action here.  The page should be highly optimized for this.

So there you have it.  My personal email marketing best practices that you can start using right now.  Make sure to measure these so you can track them and improve them.  I have even more tips if you watch the video above.
