Are you using content marketing with Social Media to grow your business? If so you made a great choice. Content Marketing across social media channels is one of the best ways to let new clients discover your business. It is an educational way to attract new prospects. Very powerful.
One of the big problems with content marketing is that it takes a lot of time and work to regularly produce good quality content that people want to read and learn from.
Today I want to show you some tricks to get more mileage out of each and every article you write for your content marketing strategy. Use these techniques to quickly double and even triple the number of eye balls that see your work. The best part is it doesn’t require you creating any new content.
Step 1 – Re-purpose Your Content
To triple the effectiveness of your content marketing start by changing the form of your content. If you write an article turn it into a video. Here is how:
Just open up Google Docs and create a simple Slide Presentation. Move the sentences from your article into slides in the presentation. Put one sentence on each slide. You will usually end up with 50-100 slides. That’s fine. Then use software like Camtasisa to turn that slide presentation into a video. Once you get the hang of it it’s not that much work. A 400-500 word article will turn into a 5 minute video. Perfect!
If you make videos have them transcribed into a articles. For a great transcription service check out TranscriptionHub.com. A 5 minute video can be transcribed for about $4.50. It turns out to be around a 500+ word article. Well worth the money (and time savings).
To get the most mileage out of your content it should be both a video and an article. I like to include both the article and the video on my blog posts. Some people like to watch. Some like to listen. Some like to read. Why no make everyone happy?
But just posting a video with a blog post won’t really increase your effectivness all that much. It is just nice for your readers.
Step 2 – Systematize New Content Distribution Channels
Now that you have both an article and a video there are a lot of places you can post them. Here are the best places I found where posting your content gives you the best results. You need to develop a very simple system (think checklist) for where you post your content.
1. Your Blog – You should have a blog to host your content. Put both the video and the article on your blog. Use YouTube’s video embed feature to add your video to your blog post. YouTube will like your videos better and send you more views if someone (like you) is embedding them on a website and they are being watched.
2. YouTube – Post your new videos to YouTube. Nothing but FREE traffic from here. You will find some of your best leads come straight from YouTube. I have seen this happen over and over. YouTube videos will send you free traffic for YEARS.
3. Facebook – Post your VIDEO to facebook. Not your blog post. Videos get way more reach on Facebook than anything written. So now you will start seeing some big benefits to converting your article into a video. Try this test: Post your blog post on Facebook on one day. Then the video on the next. You will be amazed at the difference in reach. From the exact same content!
4. Itunes Video Podcast – Use a service like PodBean.com to turn your YouTube videos into a video pod cast. You will likely find you get more visitors from iTunes than both Facebook and YouTube. So don’t forget this one. It is very easy once you get it set up (takes about 30 minutes). You don’t actually have to make a podcast. You are posting the exact same videos to iTunes as a podcast.
5. SlideShare – Slide Share is a presentation sharing site. Use the 50-100 slides you made from converting your article to a video as a presentation on slide share. Slide Share gets loads of visitors and you will get new clients simply because they saw one of your presentations (articles) on slideshare.
Of course there is reddit.com, Twitter, Google+ and all the others. But if you are only writing articles the sources listed above are brand new places where you get in front of more people.
Keep in mind you are not actually having to sit down and create anything new. You are simply re-purposing the exact same content. You will find that all the traffic you get from Facebook, YouTube, Itunes, and SlideShare will be more than what you just get from your Blog. The traffic is usally of higher quality too.
Use this simple technique to get the most views possible to your work. It really doesn’t take that much once you get the hang of it but the benefits are well worth it.
Stay tuned until my next blog post where I show you how to keep Facebook business page separate from your private account.
