Think about it. Don’t you regularly check your Twitter account and look at the notifications of your new followers? We all do it.
So just by following people you can quickly get their attention.
Some of those people will look at your profile. They will check you out and see what you are all about.
Some of those people will like what you have to say. Especially if you set your Twitter profile up the right way. They will be interested in your business and follow you back.
Let’s say you followed 100 new people per day. In my experience about 20 will follow you back. So if you want 200 new followers just follow 1,000 people.
Now Twitter does have some rules about how many people you can follow per day. In general terms they don’t want you to follow more than 100 people per day. So just do that and follow up to 100 people per day.
Who should you follow anyways? Well that is pretty easy. Just pick the profile of a competitor or someone who is in a business similar to yours. Most people don’t know this but your follower list is wide open for the taking from just about anyone using this technique. It’s just how Twitter is.
Let’s say you sell golf equipment. Just find the biggest golfing Twitter profiles and follow their followers.
Many of those people will follow you back because they are interested in golfing and guess what your Twitter profile is all about? Golfing!
You can see how this technique will build you a large targeted Twitter following.
In the example above you would be building up a killer audience in the Golfing market. If you followed my advice for what to Tweet about they will love what you have to say too. It works like magic.
Now you need to eventually unfollow people who do not follow you back. Otherwise you will be following 10,000 people and have only 2,000 followers. Instead you want to have 10,000 followers and only be following 2,000 people.
