Are you trying to get started with Twitter as part of your overall social media marketing strategy? If so you have made a great choice. Twitter is the largest social network around that will send you FREE website traffic, clients, and new customers.
We all know that Facebook is the biggest social network. The only problem with Facebok is that you have to pay for ads to get people over to your website. That is why Twitter must be a big part of your social media marketing strategy.
Today I am going to show you how to have success with Twitter by only spending 5 minutes per day. I am going to assume that you have no time at all to really be spending on Twitter.
Before you get started you should already have a Twitter account. Make sure you set up your Twitter profile to get attract new customers and prospects for your business like I showed you in a previous article.
After you have your profile set up make sure you are regularly tweeting out good stuff that your new audience will enjoy seeing. If you don’t know how to do this make sure to read my blog post about it here.
Twitter on 5 Minutes Per day
The last step in being successful in Twitter is just letting people know that there is a real live and breathing human being on the other end. So how do you this? By replying back (and reaching out) to other people. Here is exactly how you do this.
Make sure to check your twitter account once per day. If anyone @mentions you make sure to reply to them. Look under the notifications section of Twitter and look at people who just followed you. Do they have something interesting in their Tweet stream?
Great. Retweet it.
Better yet @ reply them and ask a question. You are trying to do 2 things here:
1. You want people who followed you to know someone is watching at the other end. Another real breathing human being.
2. You don’t want your twitter channel to look like a robot with all only links to other sites. This will help mix up your tweet stream.
//////////////////////// Power tip /////////////////////////////
when you @reply someone it will not show up to all your twitter followers unless they are following both of you. So put a word in front of the @reply like this:
Not everyone will see:
@smexaminer which #socialmedia network do you think is best for a hair salon doing #socialmediamarketing?
Everyone will see:
hey @smexaminer which #socialmedia network do you think is best for a hair salon doing #socialmediamarketing?

Here is how I use this technique to mix up the @buildingsocial Twitter stream:
I tend to do this in my “free” time. If I got 10 minutes at the doctors office I will hop on twitter. I just check it once per day for about 5 or 10 minutes and you should too.
What you will find is that by just spending a few minutes every day replying to people you will start to build up a loyal following. People will like you because they know there is a real person on the other end. Use this step with what you have learned from my other articles and you will have a very powerful Twitter strategy for your business. One that will bring you free website traffic, clients, and new customers.
To see how I use this technique with my own @buildingsocial Twitter account AND how I use software to automate the whole thing then check out this video:
